Sunday May 11th is Mother’s Day this year and we’ve compiled a list of activities and places to make the weekend extra special! We want to preface this by saying, ask the person who you’re celebrating what they’d like to do for Mother’s Day first. And then get her flowers. You have your pick of beautiful flowers in bloom since it’s spring so seize the opportunity! We recommend Beach Blooms in CB, Julia’s Florist in Wilmington that delivers to the island, or crafting your own arrangement by combining several bouquets available from the grocery store. This spring, the tulip and hydrangea combo has been on rotation in our house.
If the mother in your life is up for some bee bopping around town, here are some great ideas for both locals and visitors in town for the weekend celebrating:

Saturday May 10th:
-Start the day relaxing while doing yoga on the sand and listening to the waves. Kure Beach Yoga is hosting Beach Yoga at 8:00 am at 110 Atlantic Ave. Follow the link to sign up ahead of time. Mother’s Day in Carolina Beach is the best place to start the day!
-Waterline Brewing in Wilmington is hosting a Caribbean Fest followed by a Momosa Special on Sunday. At Caribbean Fest, you can expect live music, performances, and food and drinks to flow throughout the afternoon.
Sunday May 11th:
-Sip and Shop Market at Good Hops Brewing from 12:00 pm- 4:00 pm. Bring your disc golf gear too because there is an awesome course at the brewery as well.
–Korean Cooking Class in Downtown Wilmington beginning at 5:00 pm. Now this one isn’t in Carolina Beach but seems like such a fun experience for mom + whoever she’d like to bring with her!
Mother’s Day always lends itself to an extravagant Sunday brunch. You’ve got a few options in Carolina Beach. Havana’s opens at 11:00 am and boasts an elevated breakfast menu complete with four different renditions of eggs benedict. The Ocean Grill and Tiki Bar also opens at 11:00 am and is ocean front. You really can’t beat the sights and sounds of a breezy brunch on a pier above the water. Stoked opens at 9:30 am for moms who are early risers and is also taking reservations for Mother’s Day brunch (no waiting, yay!). Brunches is open 7:30 am-3:00, serving up all types of bacon and eggs with a side of a marina view.
For some get-up-and-go fuel or after an after the beach pick-me-up, head to The Vault Coffee and Wine Bar. This concept makes a swing through their drive thru convenient before a long day at the beach as well as a slow glass in house in the evening. Another great spot tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the boardwalk is Neapolitan Wine Bar. This quaint locally owned shop provides tastings, create your own flights, wine by the glass, and bottles for purchase.
From the team at North Carolina Cottages to you and yours, we wish you a wonderful weekend celebrating Mother’s Day in Carolina Beach to all the amazing mother’s in your lives!
